Excellent – Howard Devoto was born in Scunthorpe. (I lived there for a couple of years in the early 80s) … And he also went to Leeds Grammar School. And there was I thinking he was from Manchester…

(I’ve been musing on Devoto, having just caught a glimpse of the reformed Magazine playing the awesome Shot By Both Sides on Later Live).

Also been reflecting on how sad that two of our greatest & most innovative ‘post-punk’ guitarists - John McGeoch, and Stuart Adamson – died so young.

An international seed bank has reached its target of collecting 10% of the world’s wild plants, with seeds of a pink banana among its latest entries.

The wild banana, Musa itinerans, is a favourite of wild Asian elephants.

Antony Gormley’s Fourth Plinth art project

Just been watching a video round up of the best bits from the Fourth Plinth thing.

During the One And Other project, a different person stood on the plinth every hour for 24 hours a day.

I caught a glimpse of somebody chucking a large inflatable banana out of a tent, which I rather liked.

Ian Hislop, of Private Eye and Have I Got News For You spent much of his airtime on this week’s Question Time berating Labour’s Yvette Cooper, apparently for getting promoted, and being married to another politician…

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised – he probably went to the same posh school or university college, as Cameron & Osborne…

Supermarket News

I just noticed on a flyer from our local Somerfield supermarket, that the Co-Op seems to have taken them over, or at least Somerfield have become ‘part of the Co-Operative family.’

High Anxiety

So, I’m not feeling so good, and just when all seemed to be going well, mental health-wise, my anxiety has returned. In the past, this has been a prelude to an episode of depression, so I am keen to deal with this, and prevent that happening.

Anxious

I started feeling anxious last week, although I think it had been coming for a week or two.

It makes me feel uncomfortable, worried, less confident, less decisive, less able to concentrate, erm, more emotional, and less able to articulate how I’m feeling…I’ve been trying to sit down and write something for several days.

I’m less able to get things done, and feel a little of the procrastination which can paralyze, when the anxiety and depression becomes accute. But we’re not there yet.

There are a lot of less’s in there.
